Jim Elzinga is the Founder of Heroic Hearts Inc. (HHI), a global firm providing Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting services for Leadership Development and Performance Management. HHI was established in 1993. Jim is a Human Performance Specialist and Executive Coach based in Canada.
Jim draws on twenty years of first hand global coaching experience with executives and teams from some of the world’s most respected companies – including Bayer, Mercedes Benz, Chevron, Oronite, TD Bank and FAG/Schaeffler. Jim combined his abilities as a team leader, educator and motivator in leading the history-making Everest Light expedition. Against enormous odds in extreme conditions, Jim led the small,dedicated team in pioneering a new route up Mount Everest.
Jim’s unique combination of business experience, education in organizational effectiveness, and passion for adventure generates the Inspirational Edge that is the hallmark of his work. Unlike other organizational change companies that merely focus on concepts, Jim has the history to imbue these concepts with meaningful experiences that impact people at a fundamental level.
Jim’s high-altitude achievements provided the first of many forums for his considerable problem-solving, communication, leadership and team-building skills. Jim has worked globally with leading companies in every sector from finance, manufacturing to pharmaceuticals. Past business enterprises include a worldwide adventure travel company, Elzinga Adventures Inc. that often required him to exercise his negotiation skills across bureaucratic, language and cultural barriers. His unique combination of pragmatic business acumen and training in organizational development means Jim’s feet are firmly planted, whatever the altitude!
Jim is a graduate of the International Gestalt Coaching Program (IGCP) at the Cleveland, Ohio-based Gestalt Center for Systems & Organizational Change. This coach training program is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Additionally, he has completed their three (3) year post graduate Organization and Systems Development Program (OSD). Jim’s formal education includes Bachelor of Arts and an MBA.
